The postpartum period is a joyful and idealistic time as you and your partner welcome your new baby and adjust to the blessings of being a parent. However, it can also be physically and emotionally challenging, as identities and relationships change, hormones fluctuate, and sleep schedules vary. A bonding and rest period after the birth is essential for every family’s health, both immediately and long-term. A loving, healthy beginning can impact a child’s life forever.
A postpartum doula is trained in the skills of newborn care, health, nutrition, breastfeeding and maternal care. She is a concerned listener, gentle counselor, and an extra pair of hands for new parents, helping to ease the transition with encouragement and assistance.
Mothers with a postpartum doula often have greater success and self-confidence in their growing skills as a parent, while experiencing lower stress.
As a doula, I am a dynamic part of your support network, assisting in the specific areas that you request. My assistance will be uniquely blended with your home situation, family size, and typical routines. If you are looking for help in an area that is not listed above, just ask. I am flexible and resourceful in meeting your needs.
My goal is to make the space in your life to facilitate deep bonding between you and your new child. Please contact me for a free introductory consultation to determine your needs and routines, and whether my postpartum doula service would be a benefit to you.
